Kumara Parvatha (Pushpagiri) in under 12 hrs! Usually a 2 day hike.

May I know the reason for marking this trail as Difficult ?
Is it the terrain or pace?
Can we complete it in a day, if we give an early start ?
Is the path visible?
The Ascent and Descent being the same, do you think the last Descent part could be completed in late evening using lights ?

It is the pace combined with the terrain. You can certainly do it in a day.
If you start early, you will reach Bhattara Mane by 10 or so. The switchbacks leading to Bhattara Mane can tire a newbie hiker. Many stop there for a night and continue to the peak the next day.
Experienced trekkers will probably be back to the lower forest area by 5pm. Might need a flashlight only for the last 30mins or so. If it is getting late, you always have the option of staying at Bhattara Mane on the way back.

Hello Ravi,
Just wanted to know if taking a local guide for Kumaraparvatha is mandatory similar to Kudremukha etc.
They might have changed the rules now, but I don't think you'll need a guide. You do have to check in at the forest department once you arrive at Bhattara Mane, halfway up the hill.

Another question.
For a seasoned hiker, would it be possible to hike one way Kumara Paravatha starting at Subramanya end and finish at Somavarapete end?
Have you done it?
Yes. I haven't, but many do it. Would be shorter distance down, so, quicker.
