Itinerary description

Parked in the A82 layby at Glen Falloch. Dropped down under the railway before crossing the river Falloch and after about 1km, left the track (by the gate) to start the ascent of Sron Gharbh and onto Twistin Hill leading to higher toward and the summit. The ground was soft lower down, but hardened once on the main ridge. Significant windchill from the strong winds blowing across Twistin Hill ridge. Crampons and axe needed before the rocky knoll.

Headed south down An Caisteal, the final section has a short steep drop to the col - first tried left side but the ground was too steep, so retraced steps and took a line down the right side which was fine with care. Clouds rolled in, reducing visibility, so after a false start, headed right to rise through crags up a short icy gully (the bad step) and onto the first top of Beinn a’ Chroin. Dropped to the col and onto the third top. Very strong winds on top. Returned down the north ridge into the Coire Earn below to pick up the path leading back to the car.
