Itinerary description
2-Dec-2022 hike w ladies club. Bluffs south of dinosaur footsteps.
Also note that there would be an easy side route -- not included here -- that would take you down to Praia da Adraga.
You can park near the town square. I started recording this route after we had already started, so you might need to figure out the route from the town square to the point at which I started recording the route -- not very hard.
Almoçageme is a very cute town, maybe the nicest we have seen in Portugal. The town square has a coffee shop that looks good, fish market. There is parking nearby on town streets, but there may not be any parking in tourist season. We went on a Friday morning in Winter, and there was plenty of parking.
The route goes throgh town, then along some ocean cliffs & bluffs, then it goes to the dinosaur footprint stairs (which were closed for repairs), then it heads inland, from where it is just walking along a road. There was not much traffic when we were there. But the road is narrow and would be unpleasant if there was much traffic. A few really nice houses along the road.
Nearby is a pizza place. Roulote da Gigi. Garden seating outside. Nice tables & gravel floor inside. Very cute, and good pizza. Also lasagna and possibly other offerings, as I did not really look at the menu very much. We got a large pepperoni, which was not quite enough for 3. Recommend maybe 2 small pizzas next time.
Question: Is there a way to add on a bit more of the interesting part of the hike -- along the ocean -- and to cut off some of the road walking?
