Itinerary description
Day 1 of a three day loop. Could be done in one long day (~20 miles total).
Parked at Cosby Campground Parking late Friday afternoon, and started at Gabes Mountain Trailhead. Off and on rain for the five miles to Campsite 34. It's been a rainy April, so there were several major stream crossings (knee deep). Trail was mostly up hill.
Passed Hen Wallow Falls about half-way to the camp. Decided not to take the side trail down to the bottom of the falls, since we wanted to beat sundown.
Campsite 34 has five or six spots for tenting, right next to (a roaring) stream/water source that needs to be crossed to get to the campsite.
