Itinerary description
Fort Loudoun State Park.
Island state park with a Museum and rebuilt pre-revolutionary fort. Plenty of parking at the visitor center and the picnic area. Two main hiking loops that generally follow the island perimeter.
Followed the Ridgetop Loop Trail and Meadow Loop Trail, and added the Lost Shoe Loop spur. Pretty easy woodsy trail, well maintained. Even though it is well marked, we still missed a junction between Ridgetop and Meadow loops (too busy looking at a bench), so around half mile of the recorded trail is on the paved Fort Loudoun Road.
(We also spent around 30 minutes checking out the rebuilt fort, would have been great for my boys when they were 10-12 years old.)
