Itinerary description
190) Dripping Rock & The Overhang - 15th September 2018
Return Distance 3.2km, Max Elevation 370m, Total Climb 42m, Time 1.5hr, Level - Easy
Co-ordinates -24.707540, 150.996510
My Blog:
Day two and four walks to cover, so this was the first. An early start meant not many on the track and time to have a good look around. This included working my way up the creek bed beyond The Overhang until the size of the boulders barred my way.
Short Description:
An easy walk up through a bit of rainforest to Dripping Rock and further to The Overhang where water has eroded the base of the sandstone cliff.
Getting there:
From Monto, head north on the Burnett Highway and after 11.5km turn right into Cania Road (signposted Cania Gorge). Follow this for 13.7km and park by the picnic area and information board on the right, about 1km beyond the Cania Gorge Tourist Retreat.
Maps:

Route/Trail notes:
From the car park head out along the signposted track and across Three Moon Creek. After 450m, take the left fork, which takes you along the track above a creek to Dripping Rock. From there, continue on to The Overhang, with its examples of 'modern rock art!' and return by the same route.
Permits/Costs:
None.
Other References/Comments:
Many people combine this walk with Dragon and Bloodwood Caves, by taking a left when you get back to the fork.
Basing yourself at Cania Gorge Tourist Retreat for a few days, is a great way to provide easy access to these walks.
