Itinerary description
This "easy DIY" trek is by far the most picturesque trek I've ever done. The beautiful misty Kolukkumalai hills, Kurangini hills, and Munnar hills will blow your mind all throught the trek but the last portion.
The path we took is an old tribal route used by villagers to get to Munnar town from Kurangini village (ascent). We followed the path from Munnar Top Station to Kurangini village.
The descent is easy but tricky at places and can be completed in less than 4hours but the panoramic views from Kurangini hills will not let you to finish it that fast. It felt heaven up there, the cool wind and several hues of abundant green will compel one to sit and drink in the sights in more than one places.
The path leads to Muthuagudi village (1175m above msl) from where one can descend to Kurangini village (745m above msl). However, we followed a thickly forested path through a private land (a friend's). This path was hard in quite a few places with thorny plants and trees leaving scratches and bruises all over one's limbs. It was a treat whatsoever.
This is a must do trek. If the route developed by the tourism department is taken one has to pay ₹200/head.
