Itinerary description
Rando Guide 16.12 - (Conseil Général des Landes - éd.2018)
Note géographique et géologique
Note historique
Note écologique(observations)
Flore
pin maritime, ajonc d'Europe, fougère aigle, chêne liège, chêne pédonculé, houx commun

Geographical notes
The word airial designates a clearing in the heart of the Landes forest. It brings together a few farms. A group of airials forms a district, isolated from the villages.
Historical notes
Forest exploitation and breeding constituted the main part of the activities of the local populations. By the end of the 18th century, only 250,000 hectares were forested. A law dating from 1857 forced the municipalities to clean up and sow their moors. Landowners, benefiting from the network of collector canals built by the Ponts et Chaussées engineer Chambrelent, continued similar work.
To visit: Léon mere
