Note géographique et géologique
Surplombant la vallée de l'Isle, les plateaux jumilhacois exposent des landes serpentinicoles, du nom de cette roche noire zébrée de vert qui formait le plancher d'un océan disparu il y a 350 millions d'années.

Note historique
A l'époque de la Tène, vers 250 avant JC, l'Homme extrayait déjà de l'or près de Jumilhac. Le château de Jumilhac a été construit à partir du XIIIème siècle, son fief dépendait des vicomtes de Limoges puis des seigneurs de la châtellenie d'Excideuil.

Geographical notes
Overlooking the Isle valley, the Jumilhacois plateaus expose serpentine moors, named after this black rock streaked with green which formed the floor of an ocean that disappeared 350 million years ago.

Historical notes
During the La Tène culture, around 250 BC, humans were already extracting gold near Jumilhac. The castle of Jumilhac was built from the 13th century, its stronghold depended on the viscounts of Limoges, then passed to the lords of the castellany of Excideuil.
