Itinerary description
Date : 2023.04.20
Duration on paper : 11h24
Duration real with breaks : 10h48
Difficulty for me : T3
Physical : very difficult
Technical : average
Fear : average
Average Slope : +15.4% -14.5% (-13% max recommended)
Attendance ascent/summit/descent : low/null/null
Comment : I took two times the wrong path on the ascent so don't mind the two "glitches" where we went East and back, the last one around 1550m is a beautiful Bisse trail that's weirdly not on the map if you don't want to do the steep vertical climb on the ridge definitely take that trail instead. The Vernay ascent is a nice T3 climb with few people, the vertical ridge ascent even less, it's steep 40% slope going straight up poles recommended, ground is fine dirt don't expect a good grip, you will also probably have to find your own way in some places as the trail was partially destroyed by a landslide (not on maps for a reason) very physical not for casuals. At les Blisiers I hoped to go further into the forest but in the shade of trees there was too much snow and worse the unofficial trail had ice everywhere so we set for La Crevasse, at Voivre I planned to take the dark line on the map on the north side in the forest above le Tronc but the trail doesn't exist anymore gone in a landslide so we went off-trail near Sé de Troche, there is an unofficial T3 difficulty trail descenting to Col du Tronc. I had an unofficial almost straight down descent planned between la crevasse to Saint-jean but there was still too much snow and ice in the forest so we took a long (way too long) detour on the road to L'Artisier...it was pretty and very calm nobody but us there, but way too long. Physically very demanding overall this hike despite most of it being on T2 trails.
