Avant le 19ième siècle, la Haute-Lande était un territoire marécageux ouvert dont l'économie reposait sur une activité agropastorale d'autosubsistance.
Note historique
Lors du référendum-plébiscite de 1852, Sore est la seule commune landaise qui s'oppose au rétablissement de l'Empire.

Flore: pin maritime, genêt à balai, ajonc d'Europe, fougère aigle, chêne tauzin, ronce commune, houx commun, molinie bleue, châtaignier
Faune: tourterelle turque, cheval, mésange charbonnière, tarier pâtre, merle noir, chevreuil, grue cendrée

During the referendum-plebiscite of 1852, Sore was the only Landes commune which opposed the re-establishment of the Empire.
