I got up before 6, prepared the backpack, had breakfast, left the backpack in a space enabled for that and I went to the EBC. There was a very strong and icy wind, the sky was clear. Despite wearing the inner and Goretex gloves, within a few minutes I did not feel the tips of my fingers or toes. She was wearing 4 layers of clothing, hat, panty, two pairs of gloves and thick woolen socks. Still, it was frozen. I think there were less than -20 degrees and winds of more than 100 km / h. I only saw a porter in front of me. The road was difficult, as it had snowed at night and the day before and there was a layer of snow of about 2-3 cm that made it easy to slide on the rocks. Every 10 minutes I thought about turning around and going back to the shelter. In a moment, I slipped and hit my right shoulder with a rock, making a gap that curiously did not hurt me because of the cold I was doing. I lost sight of the carrier but tried to follow the tracks I had left in the snow. It was very hard every step. I decided to reach a hill and turn around, but when I arrived I found a group of people returning from the EBC. They told me that there were 30 minutes to go, so I decided to continue. I also crossed with three Sherpas who wore expedition overalls and went in the opposite direction. Finally I went to the crest of the moraine and I was able to continue to the end of the moraine, where there were flags and the descent began to the base camp, located above the Khumbu glacier. Instead of having only one group of tents in the base camp, there were two: one more to the north and one more to the bottom of the glacier, with fewer stores.
In this area the wind was blowing so hard that I had to use the sticks to keep my balance and not fall to the ground.
I took off a Goretex glove, leaving the inside, and made all the pictures I could. Curiously, the phone worked perfectly at those temperatures. Then I started to go back. I was able to meet along the way with people who were on their way to the EBC, with very bad faces.
When arriving at Gorak Shep I saw people trying to climb the Kala Patthar, although with winds of more than 100 km / h and a temperature below -10 degrees was not a good time. I decided to eat something at the shelter and start down the classic EBC route. The expedition to the EBC took me 2: 30h round trip, I imagine that much more time than it would take in good weather.
With the "french toasts" (which have as much "french" as our French tortillas) with peanut butter in the stomach I started to go down.
