Depending upon fire and logging activity, you have alternate routes down to the highway. Nf-4010000 You may be able to take a short cut down to Hwy 153 via this road through Black canyon. Turn left at the highway and rejoin the route a few mles north at Gold Creek Loop road before Carleton.

Washed out bridge(2016)

Although the passage across this bridge was possible in 2016, bikes needed to be unloaded to negotiate the damaged road on the other side. The bridge itself was ok. Forest Service plans to rebuild the road in 2017 which will open this route into Troy MT .
