Walk to Independence Mine, an old gold mine, where there are still several buildings and constructions standing that can be visited and are part of the Independence Mine State Historical Park.
When we went, access was still closed due to snow, so we left the car in the lower parking lot and walked up the road. We toured the snow-covered town, reading the informational signs and enjoying the views of the Talkeetna Mountains.
