Itinerary description
Date : 2020.07.27
Duration on paper : 07h32
Duration real with breaks : 08h43
Difficulty for me : T4+
Physical : very difficult
Technical : difficult
Fear : extreme
Attendance ascent/summit/descent : high(low on T4)/low/high(low from summit to col des Essets)
Comment : my 1st real T4, alone, on a very hot day, huge mistake I was dehydrated exhausted and really tought I was going to slip and die, I got PTSD from this for two weeks I couldn't think anymore, this is not for inexperienced people ! and this is NOT A HIKE this is rock climbing "for noobs" you need really good shoes (had them) but also a strong mental and very good arms as there's a lot of climbing involved (I had shoulder tendinitis ><) two dangerous sections 1st one is the horizontal traversal of a steep gravel slope, steep enough you can touch the ground by extending your left arm, not wide not very stable, if you slip you're dead...followed by a pretty long (for hikers) rock climb (cable present) the problem is that below there's the gravel slope and a precipice, zero room for mistakes here, it's also the 1st "hike" I have ever done where you cannot go back it's way to steep for regular hikers, once you pass the 1st vertical chain (shown in pictures) there's no going back you HAVE to finish the climb, I was nearly paralyzed by fear in the last climbing section luckily a young man caught up to me and motivated me to go on

DETAILED WEBSITES WITH PICTURES IN FRENCH (REALITY IS WORSE) :
keep in mind those sites are written by what I would call extreme sportsmen not regular hikers, their idea of "easy" or "okay" is actually "very hard" for people with no rock climbing skills
