Itinerary description
Wonderful ride to discover the county of Kent, guided by my friend Jacob along a circular route starting and finishing in Canterbury. The track is accessible to everyone, the height difference is minimal and distributed along the entire length. The land is approximately half asphalted and half dirt, without any particular technical difficulty.
The only attention to pay attention is at km 32 where you have to avoid going into private property and instead take a small, inconspicuous road accessible with a gate that is always open to get to the crossing of the railway tracks. From here on you enter the Stodmarsh National Nature Reserve, where the transit of bicycles would be forbidden; however, a small stretch is covered and if one behaves adequately one does not do any damage. Beware of the mud: there is a risk of having fun.
One more thing: the weather. We are in England so it seems superfluous to say; during the ride we encountered sun, clouds, rain and hail with strong winds, so you have to be prepared for clothing suitable for all these situations. Warm and waterproof gloves highly recommended especially if you follow the track in winter as we did. From Whitstable to Herne Bay you are exposed to the coast for about twenty km, where the wind is always quite strong and rainfall is easier. We met crazy people who enjoyed kite-surfing in the sea, despite the low temperatures and gusts of wind with hail.
