Itinerary description
Beautiful ride through hills and trails around Carolles. One or steep parts, but other than that not very technical. Between 70 and 80% gravel with a few (quiet) pieces of asphalt here and there.
Starts at cemetery just outside Carolles, then on an easy path towards Angey and Sartilly. From there, there's a small part on a big road (not many cars though). Crossing the roundabout, onto the carpool parking gets you to an asphalt road bringing you further North. Crossing the big regional road (D973) you're going back West and after a a while, the gravel starts again.
After a series of small climbs and descents you're crossing the Thar and are going towards Saint-Pair-sur-Mer. From there frequent views over the ocean take you further South towards Saint Michel des Loups.
As a finisher you're descending all the way to Jullouville to take the old train tracks back up to Carolles again.
Many 'chemins' and some of the more technical bits in the region are super muddy and sometimes even inundated in Winter. This route does not include these bits and as such this route is very doable in Winter. Do expect your bike to get dirty though ;-).
