Arriving at the third Skyway Monte Bianco station, Punta Helbronner/The Sky the surrounding landscape is spectacular. At an altitude of 3,466 meters, you can almost reach out and touch the mountains all around. We go an amazing 360-degree view from the circular terrace.
Bistrot Panoramic and Mont Blanc hall.
Coffee stop at the the Bistrot Panoramic and then Mont Blanc Hall. Unfortunately the Crystal Hall showcasing the jewels of our mountains was closed as a scene was being filmed in this area.
The Hanger Museum
We looked around the Hangar 2173, where heritage and imagination come together to recount the history of the cable car that’s more than seventy years old
Pavillon
We arrived at Pavillon where there was 180-degree views over Mont Blanc and the Val Veny. We played on the pullly raft and the climbed the big rock before visiting the Botanical gardens. Pavillon is also home to the Cave Mont Blanc, the high-altitude experimental wine-making cellar, the gift shop.
Saussurea Botanical Gardens
We visited the Botanical gardens which is 7000 square metres. There are over 900 plant species from all over the world. Unfortunately most of the plants had been trimmed back for the autumn so we were unable to see the garden at its best. We interviewed the curator Isabella Vanacore and she explained about the altitudinal bands at which different types of plants grow. We asked her about what was invovled in maintaining a botanical garden, why it is so important to have botanical gardens and the effect climate change has had on the plants that grow there.
