Itinerary description
Waypoints
Haloxyllon salicornicum (Ramas in Arabic)
In my homeland, this plant is known as Shorie (Pashtu). Besides the animal food, it is also used for the tannery at the local level to prepare skins for water storage and processing yogurt. Haloxylon salicornicum (Ramas), unique plant of the desert landscape
Zygophyllum (Zygophyllum qatarense). HARAM in Arabic
A salt-tolerant plant of the Arabian Peninsula that grows as a rounded, dwarf shrub. In adaptation to retaining water in its saline environment, it has small compact leaves that are rather fleshy and succulent. The camel loves this plant because of 2 main reasons, the i.e. rich source of water and providing abundant salts. https://arkbiodiv.com/2017/12/21/part-2-ice-cream-species-of-plants-for-the-camel-and-goat/
Microvalley, A microecosystem
Desert is always unique and fascinating. You can find very different places with unique landscapes. You can see a plain land surrounded by sand and the land have slightly larger concrete stones which are unusual in the desert.
Wide Horizones of the Desert
Onc can feel relaxed and happy in the desert. It is a nice place for cool and easy breathing. I love the desert.
Calotropis Procera
The healthier and fresh shine of the leaves and flowers attract the attention of the desert’s visitor, especially when the visitor is an explorer. Many people know this plant only as a source of poison, unedible and useless but to me, it is an asset of biodiversity, a treasure of healing molecules and food for some animals like goats, deers, and some beetles and other insects. The flowers are a rich source of nectar both for the sunbirds and the bees along with other insects. https://arkbiodiv.com/2020/11/24/calotropis-plant-a-desert-beauty-and-a-future-hope/
Winterfat Shrub (not finalized the identification)
Bery beautiful shrub with beautiful and attractive white flowers. The process is not finalized yet but I assume it is winterfat bush. It is a very resilient and hardy bush.
Leptadenia pyrotechnica (Marakh as local Arabic name, Bararra in Pashtu)
It is widespread from Africa, the Arabian peninsula to South Asia. The camel likes it very much because of its taste and flavor. When lush, it has higher contents of CP.
