Itinerary description
Last dirt bike ride of my life. So glad to share it with my son.
The forest just reopened a couple of days ago, so we were on no traveled trails after substantial rainfall closed the trails. As usual the exposed roots were an issue. These trails are heavily used when they are open as other OHV trails, other than Sandstone Trail in Kisatchie are closed from hurricane damage.
In some places you can lose the trail as there are some downed trees that you have to go way around, some trail blazes are missing, etc. Recent prescribed burning has melted the plastic blazes off the trees. We actually missed a turn and the trail turned into a single track trail that lead to a sweet creek crossing that was hardly used. We got soaked in a thunderstorm that made the exposed roots super slippery.
We saw wild horses, snakes and deer, which we have never seen here before. Nice when your the only ones on the trail.
Oh, thought I had started recording at trailhead, but hadn't so that's why mileage is not correct.
