Itinerary description

Summer 2018, ride to the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge / Medicine Park, Oklahoma.
Road grading was happening on some of the roads. This was very true near some of the large mining locations along this route. This left us with some very loose gravel. YMMV. The destination is totally worth the ride. The Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge / Mt Scott are super beautiful and fun. Plantation Inn hotel, cabins and camping are all available.

Resting like a hobo under a bridge

Lunch after a long section of freshly groomed sandy gravel. How fresh was the gravel? Well, we passed the road worker fresh. ;)

Is this mainly gravel roads or more paved roads?

It seems like you’ve posted the most about local rides/routes. Do you have routes or trail systems that are all gravel rides?

Texas gets more paved everyday. Doubt there exists a completely gravel route that is long. Join North Texas Adventure Riders on FB. I’m a mod there and we have lots of routes. Stopped using Wikiloc and have switched to Guru Pro on the phone and a Garmin XT GPS. Completed the Texas Epic Adventure Trail (TEAT) recently and it’s long and epic.
