Itinerary description

See the ULTIMATE (I ain't ashamed to say it) YouTube Video of this bike/hike right here: https://youtu.be/hx4WV8DxwFI
A picture speaks a thousand words, my filmography of this journey will speak a million! I film these trails to help others who are interested in doing it too. Please let me know if it helped.

I did this on bike but it is also a hike.... so I'll coin a new term - "BIHIKE" ©Feb 2022-Jelbuilder. 🙃
Started at the typical Wyralong Carpark, rode all the way up the main trail to the intersection of Bill's Link and Bovine Groove MTB trails. I'm on ebike and this took me 15mins - and there are some seriously steep grade hills to get there. Just be forewarned.

I then rode down Bill's Link for about 5 mins (ebike speed remember?) to the intersection of Black Rock and I think it's called Grass Trees Trail. This is where the the trail begins to head up to Ridgeline Track. It can be easy to miss so pay attention, where the Black Rock trail sign is, look to your 5 o'clock and you'll see it.

Up I went, pushing my 24kg beast bike and carrying my 7kg rescue backpack. This trail isn't that long but is STEEP man, and very overgrown. In the words of the indomitable fellow Wikiloc hiker 'TRACYV".... "You can't be precious about spiders!" They are everywhere. 🕷️

Finally arrived to the Ridgeline Trail, and found signage indicating same. Of interest, this sign also stated this was a Black Diamond graded MTB trail all the way to the summit. I suddenly didn't feel so bad about bringing my bike up (although I prefer unauthorised, unsanctioned trails.... does this surprise you? seriously.... lighten up, man!"). 😎

Trail here up to the summit is quite clear - but I never said 'easy'. It's tough. Like, really tough. In all seriousness, it took me around 15-20 mins to ascend from Black Rock sign up to the summit with the bike.... yes, I was very wet....with sweat.
The summit was stunning and I loved every second of it. Gorgeous southern view of Wyralong Dam - amazing.

There's a outcrop rock on which I placed my bike to get the ultimate bike shot (in my opinion, lol). This rock is called, "MOTHER ROCK" I'm told. I'm also told, "DON'T STAND ON IT!!" as it may fall over 'coz only dirt is holding it up. Do what you want, but you've been told.

I went a little bit further up from the summit (N/Eward) and then stopped. This trail is seriously overgrown, however it is a trail and will take you downwards to Shoreline Trail. If you do this, at the bottom hang a left and you'll come to Ngumbi Base Camp Site.

Instead from here, I turned my bike around and make the Ultimate MTB Descent from Mt Joyce Summit, down Ridgeline Track, until I finally came to Shoreline Trail. What a ride, what a rush, what a bushbashing ride it was. I'll never forget it.

I then turned right on Shoreline and went to Ngumbi Base Camp Site which is a large historical Queenslander style building (two joined into one) which offers free accommodation. No bookings required...just turn up and hope for the best (just watch out for the Yowies that are known to lurk in the area and open the creaky doors at night when you're sleeping - but you have to risk it to get the biscuit, right?).
