Itinerary description
Si raggiunge Gornergrat da Visp salendo dapprima su un treno da Visp a Zermatt ed in seguito su un trenino da Zermat a Gornergrat.
Magnifica discesa con punti panoramici incredibili, 50km di puro piacere dalle alte vette a valle.
I primi 500m verso Zermatt sono rocciosi e di lenta percorrenza, diventa poi piuttosto scorrevole fino a Riffelberg dove è possibile fermarsi per uno spuntino di montagna. Tra Riffelberg e Riffelalp abbiamo seguito un sentiero estremamente tecnico e, a tratti, pericoloso, con rocce e salti, che costeggia un burrone, per cui vedete voi se seguire lo stesso tratto oppure deviare nella strada molto più semplice che parte a est di Riffelberg.
Da Zermatt in poi tutto molto tranquillo.
We reach the Gornergrat from Visp by first taking a train from Visp to Zermatt and then a small train from Zermat to Gornergrat.
Magnificent descent with incredible panoramic views, 50km of pure pleasure from the high peaks to the valley.
The first 500m towards Zermatt are rocky and slow, then it becomes quite smooth until Riffelberg where you can stop for a mountain refreshment. Between Riffelberg and Riffelalp we followed an extremely technical and, at times, dangerous path, with rocks and jumps, that runs along a ravine, so it's up to you whether to follow the same path or deviate into the much easier road that starts east of Riffelberg.
From Zermatt onwards everything is very quiet.
