Itinerary description

While the islands are home to marine life, Pigeon Island is also known for the birds that take refuge in the area. The rocky outcrop of the island is home to a number of endangered Rock Pigeons. According to the Wildlife Department, the islands are home to about 300 species of reef fish that dwell in the coral reefs. The island's crystal-clear waters and colourful marine life of Pigeon Island make it a paradise for snorkelers.

When planning a snorkeling trip to Pigeon Island, there are a few essentials that you shouldn't forget to bring with you. These include:

Snorkeling gear - A mask, snorkel, and fins are essential for snorkeling. While some tour operators may provide gear, it's always best to bring your own if possible.

Sun protection - The Sri Lankan sun can be intense, so don't forget to bring sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses to protect yourself.

Water - It's important to stay hydrated while snorkeling, so be sure to drink plenty of water. We will bring some water bottles.

Underwater camera - You'll want to capture the beauty of the marine life you encounter, so don't forget to bring an underwater camera or a waterproof case for your phone.

Respect for the environment - When snorkeling, it's important to respect the marine life and their habitat. Avoid touching or disturbing any animals, and don't take anything from the ocean as a souvenir.

Overall, snorkeling in Pigeon Island is a magical experience that you won't forget. Just remember to bring the essentials and respect the environment, and you're sure to have a wonderful time exploring the island's underwater wonders.
