Itinerary description

This track is an introduction to all types of easy bicycle trails along the valley bottom in close vicinity to Whistler and Blackcomb Villages (a mountain bike designed track, a logging road, paved two-way dedicated bike tracks, and road sections with bike-lane shoulders.

It starts at "Function Junction" to the south of Whistler and ends at Blackcomb Upper Village. The saved track includes a short segment at the north end of the Sea-to-Sky (STS) trail, a mountain bike segment. This is sometimes narrow, twisty and has some short ups and downs, and occasional roadside rock and tree hazards. The saved track is an introduction to STS only, and turns back after 10-15 minutes. A logging road parallels this section of the STS trail and is readily accessible from the STS in several locations.

The rest of the route is paved and covers the lakes and valley bottom around Whistler and in town.

For future reference: If OK with the north end of STS, a trip as far as Brandywine Falls Park with a vehicle pickup might be considered, passing the Bungee jump bridge. It appear from discussions with locals that Brandywine is as far south as the STS off-highway bike trail is really developed, so heading farther south along STS is really a highway route.

STS Trail - My Turnaround

Good turn around point if staying in the Whistler area. The farther you go, the more uphill if you plan to get back to Whistler, and it may take longer than expected to get back. Alternatively, continue to Brandywine Falls Provincial Park and arrange for a car to meet you there and bring you (and bikes) back to Whistler
