Itinerary description
Based on Komoot "Zur Schönen Aussicht – Mangfall loop from Westerham" https://www.komoot.com/tour/1564953359.
To get to the start from Munich, we took the RB56 to Holzkirchen and then the RB58 to Westerham. A MVV Fahrrad-Tageskarte works for this journey. You don't need the more expensive Deutsche-Bahn one.
The loop tour is great. It's all on tarmac'd roads or bike paths. There are lovely views of meadows with hills and mountains in the distance. We stopped at the Gasthof Schaukelpferd in Ginsham as recommended in the original tour and had a super schnitzel.
As we approached Westerham on our return we decided to continue by bike back to Holzkirchen. The route I chose which was a short cut was a disaster. There's a reason the roads and train don't follow the direct line. There was a very steep ascent in what turned into a tiny path that I had to drag the bikes up. Definitely don't follow this part of our route!
