Itinerary description
Riverside Park partial from City of Victoria Parks and Recreation Office to the Inn on Main. Nice easy bike ride through the park and historic district. Really nice, unique homes to look at.
Helmets may have been required as a fellow rider pointed at his helmet while we were riding in the park. If so, we didn't see any signs advising us of so. Regardless, helmet use is always a safe bet.
Came back after ride to eat at the Pumphouse Riverside Restaurant, which was unique and had good food for a reasonable price. Overnighted at the Inn on Main, which was really nice and very reasonably priced.

Old Brownson School
Built on land donated by the widow of banker John M. Brownson (1836-1906) in 1910, this nicely detailed building cost a mere $12,000 to construct. It is referred to in school board minutes as being a “free public school.” It was occupied on January 20, 1911 by grades one, two, and three. A bronze plaque memorializing Brownson was cast by noted sculptor Pompeo Coppini and hangs over the main entrance. NR-1986. J.M. Brownsen, this school’s namesake, was a prominent merchant, founding Victoria’s first bank. This building is now an art school.
