Itinerary description

This is a delightful ride a half a day of absolute visual pleasure. Being more than 54 km and the fact that a big part of it is above 900m is challenging for the unseasoned bikers however a good biker or someone with time in his hands would have no trouble at all completing it.
The route is nicely balanced on uphill and downhill and it definitely helps that you finish downhill.
Stop at centre of Kallipeuki behind the church on both the way there for a coffee a tea or even lunch and the on the way back for an afternoon refreshment, tea or dinner.
Due to its nature this ride is unsuitable when snow or ice covers the road or strong northerly winds are blowing.
Otherwise you can do it on both a mountain and a normal bike.
Please do remember post your photos on Google earth for all to see the beauty of the place and the fine blend of wilderness and beauty the bare mountains and the chestnuts and pine forests.
Start and finish in front of the old mansion house in Ano Skotina and exit towards the main road to Kallipeuki.
Turn right when you reach the main road and head uphill. Continue all the way to Kallipeuki where it makes sense to stop on both the way to the Monastery and the way back. Feel up your bottles with water.
Collect as many chestnuts you can carry on the way back to cook them on the open fire in the evening if you are doing the ride at the end of September to the end of October.
It will take you with the break up to 2 and a half hours to reach the Monastery and around three hours (four if you stop for dinner) on the way back.

Enjoy
