Teutoburgerwald Ibbenbüren-Tecklenburg-Dörenberg 88 km

Nice cycling tour in the Teutoburger Wald with a lot of climbs, the picturesque town Tecklenburg, forests, valleys, pasture, views and the Aasee lake. The trip starts off from a car pool parking at the motorway exit. You can find something to eat and drink in various places, most notably Tecklenburg, Natrup-Hagen (a bit off-route), Leeden and Ibbenbüren. The start of the climbs are marked with links to the climbs on www.climbfinder.com/. The trip is suited for the road bike. There are some cobblestone streets (most notably Tecklenburg) and some roads have mediocre asphalt (most notably the second part of the Dörenburg climb).
From the start you ride to the climb Teutohang West, a quiet, short but steep climb in the forest. You descend again and follow the main road until the descent to Brochterbeck. You take a cycling route south of the Teutoburger Wald with views of the hills. From Wechte you start the climb of the Bismarckhöhe towards Tecklenburg. At the top you have a nice view from a parking lot to the low lands of Münsterland south of the Teutoburger Wald. You now continue towards the center of Tecklenburg with cobblestone roads in the picturesque center. From the center you continue to descend to the start of the climb of the Kahlen Berg. This climb with a steep section in a forest brings you back to the more modern part of Tecklenburg. You descend on the main road to Lengerich at the foot of the Teutoburger Wald. Here you climb the Kleeberg, another steep climb in the forest on a forest road without cars. From the top you have a nice descent to the valley of the Leedener Mühlenbach. You ride to this valley to the next climb: Lengericher Berg. This is an easy climb on a bigger road. From the top you descend back to the valley on a minor road. You follow the Schollbrucher Strasse through this valley until you start the climb of the Sudenfelder Strasse. From the top there is a fast descent towards Hohne, and then you take a cycling route on minor roads south of the Teutoburger Wald towards Lienen. In Lienen you take the Lienenerberg, a gradual climb on a winding road through the forest ending at the Calcis limestone processing plant. From here you take a road through the valley towards Bad Iburg. Shortly before this town you start the climb to the Dörenberg in Niedersachsen. The climb is in two parts with an intermediate descent. After passing the main road L96 the road turns into a forest road without cars. This section of the road is not well paved with some holes and forest debris on the road. No problem during the climb, but warranting caution on the way back. The climb takes you to 300 meters, where the road ends at a gated transmission tower. The climb is in the forest but you have occasional views. You take the same way back to the L96, and then follow this road descending to the start of the climb Am Heidhorn. From the top you take the cycling route on minor roads south of Hagen Am Teutoburger Wald to the K303. You follow this road to Gellenbeck and continue to the Gellenbecker Mühle. You ride north of Natrup-Hagen to the L89, and take the small cycling path along this road to Natrup-Hagen. From here you continue to Leeden and on the K26 on to towards Ledde. Before that you climb the Grafenstrasse to a transmission tower, and then descend back to the K26. You follow this road to Ledde and then a cycling route on minor roads towards Ibbenbüren. Before Ibbenbüren you get on a cycling path taking you along the Ibbenbürener Aa towards the Aasee. You take the cycling path along the lake (watch out for pedestrians) to the west end, and then cycle back to the start.
