Itinerary description
There's a bike rent at Spondigna. You can't miss the route, but as of 2021 there are lots of road works and deviations might occur. Be sure to follow the signs.
The start of the yourney is quite easy and flat, mostly until Malles Venosta. From here.. A steep route begins, and also not so narrow: be aware of cyclist who goes down that will speed right next to you.
Stop at Burgisio for few picture, then proceed until the ascent is almost finished: S. Valentino First, and then the start of the dam.
Whe you reach the dam, keep left to reach Rèsia via a route that is a mix of ups and downs. When you reach Resia, you are at half your journey. The track GPS stops here, but you can continue via the bike road on the other side of the lake, in this case the road is much simples and flat, you'll reach the dam again in few minutes. But, stop at the famous Campanile di Curon Vecchia, a bell tower that survived the flooding caused by the dam.
When you'll reach the dam, you'll have few kms of ascent, and then it's all down until you reach again Spondigna.
There are not intrinsic difficulties, the route is almost all asphalt excluding the Resia side of the lake. The steepiness however requires you to be fit and well equipped. There are few fountains along the route, and anyway you'll find few towns where you can buy some water if you need it.
