First day of riding this famous cycling journey through the islands found in the Seto Inland Sea, linking Japan's main island, Honshu, with the 4th largest island, Shikoku.
The route is easy to do because it is very worked for tourism. You usually start from Onomichi, which is easy to get to by train, and they have a great public bike rental service of all sizes and models, including e-biles. In Onomichi there are other private bike rental shops, probably with newer models, but the advantage of using the public service is that you can return the bike in Imabari, at the end of the route. It cost me 2,000 yen per day, plus 1,100 yen for a deposit that you will NOT get back if you deliver the bike to another station.
In Onomichi, the first thing you do is take a ferry to go to the first island (110 yen): Mukaishima, and from there you just have to follow the blue line that marks the entire route, and deviate whenever you want to explore the islands.
On this route only the 1st day is recorded. For the 2nd day of the route, you must visualize Shimanami Kaido (2nd day).

56 km en bici Valdu? No está mal!!!!
Muy buena ruta. Planeo hacer Shimanami kaido en otoño pero también me gusta explorar fuera de los caminos principales, por lo que agradezco el aporte del santuario de Iwashijima. Un saludo!
