Itinerary description
Fantastic cycle in Shikoku's east coast. If you are on the region, definitely do it.
I stayed at Shishikiu at the lovely Pavilion Surf. Took the 8:02 am train to Hiwasa and headed to the tourist information centre which rents out bikes at 500¥ and electrical bikes at 1000¥ per day. Chose the later which turned out to be a blessing in the steep ascent of the road.
The town and bay were nice for a short warm up ride, and you can get snacks at the local supermarket. Going on the coastal road (no. 147) there is a short tunnel and afterwards the great views begin. There is a toilet and some vending machines on the first viewpoint. Halfway through I decided to take the small road through the forest, though you might wish to continue on the main road if you want to enjoy more views.
If you have your own wheels then there are two nice beaches along the way where you might be able to camp. If you need to get back to Hiwasa I would recommend taking the same route, as the main highway (no. 55) has way more traffic and on some stretches lacking proper sidewalk.
