Itinerary description
Beautiful tour for the racing bike through the Monts du Cantal within the Parc Naturel Regional des Volcans d'Auvergne. Route Riom-ès-Montagnes - Trizac - Le Falgoux - Pas de Peyrol - Cheylade - Lugarde - Condat - Riom-ès-Montagnes. Pas de Peyrol is a nice col (second category in the Tour the France), not really difficult, except for the last 2 kilometers with stretches over 15 %. The starting point of this track is close to where I stayed in a gite, and not really a parking spot, although you can find plenty nearby (e.g. in Riom or Valette).

Pas de Peyrol
Mountain pass at 1588 meters, just beneath the Puy Mary (1783 meters) , which you can ascend by foot via a concrete path/stairs from the Pas de Peyrol (not really the thing with toeclips though).
