Itinerary description
Nice longer trip to the mountains between Malaga and Ronda.
You start as always in the heart of Malaga, square Plaza de la Constitucion. Following walkingstreet Calle Cisneros you meet road and turn right and after 100 meters left across bridge Aurora. Then go through streets Marmoles/Martinez Maldonado/Av.de Carlos Haya untill you come to the roundabout for University/Universidad. Turn left and soon right after 300 meters. You are on street Calle Navarro Ledesma which is signed as A-7076/MA-405 untill Campanillas. There enter city and keep all the time on A-7054 (sometimes MA-402, depends on the map)till ciudad Pizarra. On the last roundabout turn left for Zalea/Casarabonela/Alozaina through A-343.
Before Zalea you will cross main road and you will keep on A-354 close to Casarabonela. There you will be tested on the first hills. Enjoy!!! Before Casarabonela go straight for village on road A-7275, later MA-445 after village. You will climb through impressive pines with good surface having views over Casaabonela and valley Hoya de Malaga. After few km's you will come to pass Puerto Martinez which is between mountais Sierra de Alcaparain and Sierra Prieta. Amazing.
There expect you a bit destroyed asphalt fluctuating with nice part until you descent to the valley. Following the same MA-445 for El Burgo you will get nice surface for many km's only last 2 km's before village it become ad again. El Burgo, nice white village surrounded by range of mountains is impressive and after 80 km you merit any drink and food there. Prices are impressive too.:-)
Going from El Burgo you will get super surface and wide road leading to pass Puerto de las Abejas - many times tested by peloton during Vuelta a Espana or Vuelta a Andalucia. You are on A-366 for Yunquera/Alozaina/Coin for long time. You will enjoy nice views and good surface descents for many km's. Just remember to turn right in Alozaina to follow Coin.
Coming to the city Coin you will get many possibilities to be refreshed if you feel exhausted and then you can keep on following signs for Cartama/Campanillas/Malaga through A-355/A-7057 before Estacion de Cartama. There you will meet again the road A-7054 leading to Malaga city center through Campanillas.
In generally you will have any 40 flat km to get warm and behind Pizarra you will start climbing for any 60 km. There are few strong climbs but in generally everything results to be funny. Only wind could be your enemy. Since coin you go down only relaxing after 2000 meters of gained elevation.
