Itinerary description

This is moderate road bike trip around 130km.

Firstly you have to leave Malaga city through street Marmoles/M.Maldonado/Avenida Carlos de Haya and turn left for University. After 400m turn right following the street Calle Navarro Ledesma. This leads you out of the city through road MA 405 to Campanillas.

Then follow signs Cartama-Pizarra-Alora. In Alora there is a small climb, but you keep on to El Chorro. The road MA 444 is easy to ride and the ascending is almost invisible.

Following MA 444 ride between pines till the Embalse del Conde del Gudalhorce. This is a nice and emotional ascending to this large lake.

On the crossroad turn left still following MA 444 to Ardales. The biggest problem starts there when you have to share 3km od main road with lorries etc. Then yo turn left again for Carratraca.

From Carratraca follow road A7277/A7078 which is the worst part of the journey. In fact 8km of really bad surface between Carratraca and Alora can't destroy any impressions of this exceptional route. The views are excelent there.

Then you come to Alora and going through the city you take A6117 to go to Pizarra.

Then you again follow Cartama/Campanillas to go to Malaga city center.

This route is comfortable and long enough. The first part as well as the last part between Malaga and Alora is flat. The rest has steady climbs to develope your force.
