Itinerary description
Medium large road race trip around 100km.
The meeting point is Plaza de la Contitucion in the heart of city of Malaga. The best point to get a coffee and breakfast before you start.
You follow Marmoles street and you keep on straight when leaving the city. This street change its name for few times (Martinez Maldonado, Avenida Carlos de Haya, Lope de Vega..) and you come to Puerto de la Torre. Since that point you follow A7075 road. Then you turn slightly left following road MA 423 having steady long climb along Lake Casasol for Almogia.
MA 424 leads you to Villanueva de la Concepcion and all the time you can observe Sierra del Valle del Abdalajis on the left side or El Torcal in front of you.
In Villanueva de la Concepcion turn right for Casabermeja and after 5km turn left for road MA 436. There are few strong but short climbs until Casabermeja.
Close Casabermeja change the road for A 356, after 8km turn right for Colmenar through MA 435 again.
In Colmenar turn right for N.P. Montes de Malaga and follow C 345 leading to Malaga. When you come to Puerto del Leon (950m) you will be rewarded by 15km long downhill to city of Malaga.
Finish in Plaza de la Constitucion offers you another nice experience.
In total it is around 100km, ascend around 2000m. Really cool moderate road bike trip.

Moderate is a valid level but not during summer. Doing this trip at 30 degrees celcius in the sun and hardly any wind to cool you down is a bit challenging.

Difficult
I think this is difficult due to hills and long transit out of town, but v rewarding in terms of road condition and traffic. Lots of traffic lights on way out and route doesn't account for new roundabout at the autopista. Nice quality roads, not much traffic but long way to go befor final descent which is fairly fast and technical. Enjoyable.

Pretty long route if you are a bit out of shape due to the climbs.
Those saying that they had a hard time following the route out of town are a bit picky. It's literally keeping on the same road. Plus it gives you the opportunity to warm up. Sooner is better to avoid traffic.
Most of the route is in very pretty surroundings behind Malaga.
Beware of retarded drivers in the last descent. They seem to gather there and are willing to challenge everyone's life.

Analyzing the track I decided to make it inverted, I mean starting facing the Puerto de Leon hill and finishing by Almogia. We were using rented bikes from bike2malaga, it matched perfectly to start at about 10 am until 4 pm. On Sunday we couldn't find a good food spot in Colmenar so the good surprise was the lunchtime that we had in Villanueva Conception.
