Itinerary description
Ascent from Huaraz to Punta Callan, a high pass in the Cordillera Negra. This is totally on asphalt, since it is an important road, which later descends to the Pacific coast.
From the pass, further on to the summit with the big antenna. This is all on gravel, but not a bad one.
Overall it is a pleasant ascent, the only critical point being the initial crossing of the barrio Los Olivos, due to the harassment caused by the infinite number of dogs ready to chase the bicycle!
You need to keep both stones and walking sticks ready for defence purposes.
Higher on there are no problems.

Los Olivos
For cycling Los Olivos is a truly frightening stretch, due to the abundance of assaulting dogs.
