Planinsko Polje

It's one of the most beautiful karst fields in Slovenia. Adapt the route to the level of water. If the field is flooded, choose it differently. The best seasons to visit are spring and autumn.

We best park at the Haasberg / Hošperk Manor, which is closest to the highway. From the parking place ride past the stall towards the SW and down to Unica river, which we reach at Malni (mills) locality. There go left upstream to the very source, then return to the river.

The next point of interest is the Ravbar tower. To reach it, you must cross the river, ride to Planina village and there turn left. Keep always left, along Unica, the tower is close to the river.

Riding from the tower southwards you soon approach the magnificent entry into Planina cave. You can walk in the initial part, but to continue further, you need to hire a guide. The cave is splendid, with a beautiful decoration, so visiting it is very worth, but also only the huge hall where Unica flows out of it is worth a visit.

From Planinska jama (cave) we ride back to the Planina village and continue riding by the local road which runs below the main road. Continue past the road branching to Haasberg manor and then take the next road right - towards the village of Laze. You cross the river again and at the village beginning keep left - towards the small village of Jakovica. On the northern side of the hill there's the small church of St. Michael, which stands just above a water source (!!) From Jakovica continue towards the NW, over the Unica river again. There you can continue to the place where in many caves the river is disappearing underground.

But if you continue from the road end towards the left, along the forest edge, you will reach the village of Grčarevec and the main road. Return by the main road to Planina village and take there the left branching to Haasberg Manor.
