Itinerary description
Palo Duro is a great canyon ride and of course the road in and out of the canyon is its greatest challenge. The canyon floor is an easy ride. The decent in is fast and difficult with twisty roads and traffic. The climb out is slow and Laborious. Wildlife is plenty and not in a hurry to get out of anyone's way. Turkey will block the road in some places. This park has several water crossing's sometimes the road will be dry and other times you will have to get your feet wet. In extreme cases the roads will be closed. This park can be busy on weekend and during the summer but during the off season and on weekdays you could have the park to yourself. There are plenty of Mountain Bike courses in the park as well.

Rode this for the second time last weekend. 24hours in the canyon bike race produced 500 riders with the winner riding nearly 400 miles. The climb out is as tough as ever. Riding several loops on the canyon floor did'nt help any.
