Itinerary description
Nice road bike trip with adecuate elevation between amazing lakes at the bottom of the valley Hoya de Malaga.
We start as always on the main square Plaza de la Constitucion taking street Calle Cisneros and entering road turn right for a few meters. Then turn left across the bridge Aurora and follow the street Marmoles/Martinez Maldonado/Avenida de Carlos Haya-direction Puerto de la Torre. When you see sign for UNIVERSIDAD/UNIVERSITY turn lft to follow it for any 200 meters and then immediately turn right for street Navarro Ledesma A-7076 going still straight to Campanillas.
Coming to Campanillas turn right and follow the road A-7054 through Campanillas/Estacion de Cartama to Pizarra. There you have to keep straight on A-343 to Aloara. In Barrio del Puente turn left through roundabout for Alora and start to climb to city. After 2 km you come to another roundabout and turn right following road to El Chorro. The surface behind this roundabout is a bit destroyed for 1 km, so pay attention to it.
After any 8 km you will come to hydroelectric power station El Chorro go along towards gorge and then climb up through MA-444 along church restaurant to T-junction close to lakes. There you have to turn right to follow crowns of all three lakes. You will come to the lake Embalse del Conde de Guadalhorce and then to another crowns of lakes Embalse de Guadalteba and last one is Embalse de Guadalhorce. You keep straight along last lake Embalse de Guadalhorce for any other 10 km following signs for Antequera/Valle del Abdalajis/Estacion de Gobantes. On following T-junction turn right for Antequera/Valle del Abdalajis. There will be again nice steady climbing and finally winding route to meet main road between Antequera and Valle del Abdalajis.
You turn right for Valle del Abdalajis/Alora/Zalea through A-343. Go along Alora and 2 km behind turn right on the roundabout to follow road A-6117 direction Zalea. At the bottom of this road you meet A-343 and turn left for Pizarra. Then you will go over the rail track to Pizarra and turn right on the 1st roundabout. Then you have to keep straight on A-7054/MA-402 through Aljaima/Estacion de Cartama/Santa Rosalia/Campanillas till Malaga.
The finish is on Plaza de la Constitucion again.
The surface is very good almost all the time except the part in Alora (1 km) and descent towards the main road before Antequera and Valle del Abdalajis (1 km).
And of course....Malaga city...:-)
