Itinerary description
Track for the racing bike through the Hautes Fagnes/Hohes Venn/Hoge Venen, starting at Lichtenbusch. Large stretches on paved forest roads without motorized vehicles. Beautiful route with endless woods and moors, as well as a pretty stretch along the Lac de la Gileppe. The forest roads are good to drive on with a racing bike, although a little deteriorated in places. The forest roads are asphalted apart from some 300 meters, which are easy to negotiate. The absence of cars and motors more than make up for this. The N676/N68 which you need to take to cross the Hautes Fagnes via Botrange and Baraque Michel can be heavy with traffic on e.g. a beautiful Sunday.
Despite going to the highest point in Belgium (Botrange), most of the route is not very steep, apart from 300 meters of 15 % in the center of Eupen.
The starting point (Lichtenbusch) is conveniently located close to an exit of the A4 motorway.
