Itinerary description
At the start there is a carpool parking along the road. You cross the bridge to Grevenmacher and then follow the main road to Mertert. Near Mertert, you follow the cycling path along the Syre stream, which was partly closed during my trip. You end back up at the Moselle and follow the river to Wasserbillig. Here, the Sauer flows into the Moselle. You follow the Sauer upstream. Where the Moselle is canalized, the Sauer flows freely, has hardly any industry, and is much more natural. Cycling paths take you almost all the way along the river. You first cycle below the large highway viaduct and then continue to Moersdorf and then to Rosport and Steinheim before you arrive in Echternach. Here you make a touristic detour through the town center, with among others the city walls, the Saints Pierre-et-Paul church, the Basilique Saint-Willibrord, the Place du Marché and the Orangerie. You then continue on the cycling path to Bollendorf-Pont and Dillingen with the arch bridge, and further on to Wallendorf-Pont, where the Our flows into the Sauer and the Sauer is no longer the border. You continue a bit further to Reisdorf, and cross the Sauer to return to the Our bridge at Wallendorf. From Wallendorf you follow roads along the Sauer rather than cycling paths to Dillingerbrück and then via a hill to Bollendorf. Here you get on a bit bigger road to Echternacherbrück. A bit before that you make a detour away from the main road to the castle at Weilerbach on a minor road closed for cars. You pass directly in front of the castle and then follow the main road back to the road along the river. From Echternacherbrück you follow cycling paths to Minden and then Godendorf. At Ralingen you pass through an old train tunnel and then follow the large meander of the Sauer to the most eastern point of Luxemburg. You continue to Wintersdorf and then Metzdorf and then the highway viaduct. Past Langsur you follow the main road to Wasserbilligerbrück. Here, you follow the Moselle towards Konz on a cycling path. You cross on a railway bridge, cross the bridge across the Saar river, and follow the Moselle back to Oberbillig. You continue on the cycling path along the Moselle back to the starting point.

This is one of seven trips along the Luxemburg border, taking you around the entire country, with generally quiet and beautiful landscapes, the Our, Sauer and Moselle rivers, the industrious and mining landscape in the south, picturesque villages, three tripoints, wetlands, countryside and hills.
Starting at the tripoint Germany-Belgium-Luxemburg and going counter-clockwise, these are the routes:
