Itinerary description
Ride was mostly a gradual uphill. It took us twice as long as we thought it would. We rented "comfort" bikes, but they were not comfortable. Second half of the ride had no benches, no shade, no water. Coming into Aspen, the trail was not paved, but was still fine. We took a short cut, which had us go down to the river and back up the other side. We put the bikes on a bus and took it back to Glenwood Springs. Bus took about an hour. If I was doing this again, I would take the bus to Aspen and then ride back. Scenery was great and Aspen had lots of restaurants and shops. If you go, check for a place called Woody Creek Tavern. We didn't go, but wish we had. Looks like they cater to cyclists.
