Itinerary description
First day, 22 miles (36 kilometres). Caledonian MacBrayne ferry across Clyde from Ardrossan Harbour to Brodick, main town on Isle of Arran. Refreshments on ferry. String Road (steep) across Arran with links to west coast road at Machrie and Blackwaterfoot and north to Lochranza. Alternative, A841 anticlockwise around island through North Glen Sannox and direct to Lochranza. Several small golf courses on Arran with clubhouses open to public and serving simple meals. Sea vistas and views of Kintyre Peninsula. Accommodation in Lochranza. Ferry to Cloanaig at village.
