Itinerary description

CROATIAN (for english see below)

ENGLISH
This MTB tour will take you to the most interesting sports on Petrova mountain.

The tour starts at hunters lodge Muljava and first heads to old partisan forest hospital, which was hidden from the Germans during the WW2. The hospital was reconstructed to the original state and is a real gem hidden deep in the forst.

Your second destination will be the abandoned military outpost at peak Magarčevac. This was one of 60 radio-relay outposts built across former Yugoslavia which provided communication in case of a war. The deep underground complex is well hidden under an unassuming house. The only thing which gives it away is a 50m steel tall tower. Make sure to be careful if you decide to climb the tower.

The third POI is called "Kings grave". It's a remembrance place built in honor of the last Croatian King Peter, who was slayed at Petrova mountain by the Hungarians in 1097 (almost 1.000 years ago).

After you play tribute to King Peter, you will need to switch gears because you will need it for the steep climb which is ahead of you. After a bit of struggle you will reach the ruins of an ancient monastery from built in year 1.303 by Hermits from the Order of Saint Paul.
The monastery was abandoned in 1548 due to advancing ottomans armies.

The last spot worth visiting on Petrova mountain is the grand Monument to the uprising of the people of Kordun and Banija against the Nazis. Although the monument is neglected and in poor state it's a great site to behold. Make sure to check the interior - it's a real architectural masterpiece.

The last section is an easy descent via single track through the woods.

Partizanska bolnica

-------------------- ENGLISH -------------------- Partisan hospital was build for healing wounded partisan soldiers during the WW2. It consisted from multiple houses and a couple of hidden underground dugouts. Despite multiple efforts by the Nazi forces the hospital managed to keep operation until the end of the war. Today at that spot stands a realistic replica of the original hospital complete with the hidden underground dugouts. Can you spot one?
