Itinerary description
A circuit from downtown Toronto mainly along trails created from disused rail lines and dedicated bike lanes, and through cemeteries. (The route is based on one proposed by Jeffrey Rosenthal.) The Beltline rail path is mainly unpaved, which means that it is usually unusable in winter, but in 2016 it was rideable (though muddy) on February 28. The route is mainly flat, although there are a couple of significant hills. Probably in good weather in the summer, the Beltline rail path is fairly crowded. Ridden in a clockwise direction, you'll have most of the uphill on paved roads and paths and most of the downhill on unpaved trails. (The southern, western, and northwestern parts of the route are paved, the northeastern and eastern parts unpaved.)
