Itinerary description
Trying a faster route to Poole via Tincleton, Clouds Hill, the long Puddeltown Road to Wareham. It certainly seems to be a smoother, faster, straighter road to Wareham than going the other way along the NCN2 to Wareham via Moreton and Wool, East Stoke etc.
Not sure it's nicer. Biggest problem on this route is stretch between Wareham and the Lytchett Minster roundabout. Very busy straight. There is a cycle pathway which runs alongside (and then seems to change sides) but often it's just a narrow stretch of pavement and you've got to take care. Also, the urban stretch through Upton isn't very nice.
And lastly the signage to take the path at Upton Country Park down to the Holes Bay isn't very clear and its a rough, muddy woodland track, not very good if you're on a road bike. Fortunately only lasts for a few hundred metres and then you're rewarded with views of Holes Bay. The path then becomes a proper ashphalt pathway
