Itinerary description
This route proposes a road cycling circuit starting from Dhiban village with the incentives to visit the Um Ar-Rasas mosaic, the Al-Lahun ruins and the spectacular views of Wadi Mujib dam [Pict 1] on the upper basin of the river. However the track is interrupted by 2 short soil tracks, one not bad enough to get out the bike but the second one it is necessary in order to avoid damaging the road bike wheels, for around 200 meters. These soil tracks can be definitely inaccessible for a road bike if it was raining and/or the ground is wet.
A priori, the first plan of the track was to join Al-Lahun with the waypoint called [ViewPoint] to have a perfect round circuit; I guess it is possible, but for sure only with MTB. Have a look the image I prepared [click here] where you can see this alternative route and other options to make the track shorter or in case of a quickly return to Dhiban.
Dhiban village is very well supplied, offering a good opportunity for those last shopping before start and to recover after the day. Sad to mention, but we had several incidents of kids throwing stones, (much bigger than pebbles); one time they still throwing the stones even when I got out my bike to chase them, just to scare them.
This information has a price, the price to keep your environment clean: taking only pictures, leaving just your tireprints.
