L’ancienne abbatiale
Recent archaeological excavations have enabled the history of the abbey church, built in the 11th century and destroyed during the French Revolution, to be updated. The mainly 18th-century monastic buildings now house a museum dedicated to the poet Apollinaire, the museum of the principality of Stavelot-Malmedy and the Musée du Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, which traces the history of the motor-racing circuit and contains a remarkable collection of vehicles.

Eglise Saint-Sébastien
This beautiful church benefited from a major interior renovation in 1995, which brought to the fore the fine balance of its space. It is of brick and limestone built in 1754.
Of interest inside is a listed organ which has also been restored, several wooden statues, the pulpit and above all the reliquary of saint Remacle in the choir of church.. This masterpiece of Meuse-Rhenish gold and silver work, coming from the old abbey church, still contains the relics of Saint Remacle.

Tunnel GR5 Stavelot
Tunnel on the GR5 trail Spa-Stavelot under the old railway, now Ravel45.
The railway ran from Stavelot to Spa via Francorchamps.
From Spa the entrance is more difficult to find: on the left side of the guardrail down.
The path goes along with the small stream "Hottonruy" along the tunnel.
Just upstream is La Pierre du Diable:
This huge quartz block remains as a witness to Satan's new attempt to destroy the church of Stavelot.
The day before the ordination of the church built by the holy Remacle, the devil planned to throw a large stone on the roof to destroy the monks and the building.
Alerted by an angel, Remacle had a bag filled with old shoes and put it on the shoulders of one of his disciples he sent him to Satan (according to some versions, Saint Remacle went there himself, others said it was Brother Antonius, guardian of the abbey).
The conversation started at the top of a steep hill, where the devil had just arrived:
Comrade, says the devil, is the abbey of Stavelot far from here?
The monk who empties his bag on the way answered:
These are shoes I've worn since I left Stavelot.
And the devil, discouraged, made a terrible blasphemy to be heard, abandoned the stone and fled away.
According to another version, the devil has marked the stone and thrown it away. He broke into three pieces: that of Wanne, another one in Walk (Waimes) and a third one in Reichenstein, near Montjoie.

Stavelot
Stavelot is a Walloon municipality in the Belgian province of Liège. In 2006, Stavelot had a population of 6,671 and an area of 85.07 km2 , giving a population density of 78 inhabitants per square kilometre .
The town grew up around the Abbey of Stavelot, founded ca 650, out of what had been a villa, by Saint Remaclus . The villa's lands occupied the borderland between the bishoprics of Cologne and Tongeren. The Abbey of Stavelot was secularized and demolished at the time of the French Revolution: of the church just the west end doorway remains, as a free-standing tower. Two cloisters — one secular, one for the monks — survive as the courtyards of the brick-and-stone 17th-century domestic ranges, now housing the Museum of the Principality of Stavelot-Malmedy, and museums devoted to the poet Guillaume Apollinaire, who was a long-term resident, and to the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps. The foundations of the abbey church are presented as a footprint, with walls and column bases that enable the visitor to visualize the scale of the Romanesque abbey.

Pont des soupirs Trois-Ponts
Pont des soupirs - Trois-Ponts.
Trois-Ponts is located in the heart of three valleys where three watercourses flow through. With all this nature, the municipality really likes green tourism. Visitors can follow no less than seventeen signposted walks, three mountain bike paths and two horse trails. The municipality is also part of the Ravel network, with a 22-kilometre journey to Waimes along Stavelot and Malmedy.
In addition, Trois-Ponts is well known to the Compostellagangers, with Saint Jacobus, a religious edifice from the 7th century that still attracts the interest of archaeologists today.
It was not without reason that Trois-Ponts became the first municipality in Belgium with a safety mark system. In practice, this means that every beacon along the paths allows walkers to be located immediately when they are lost or have an accident. It is sufficient simply to call the 112 emergency number and give the number of the beacon so that the emergency services can get to the scene immediately, allowing valuable time to be saved.
The walkers will be spoiled in Trois-Ponts: at the top of the Tour Leroux (16 m 65 m), they will have an unforgettable view over the valleys of the Amblève and Salm valleys. There are also donkey rides. You can hire the services of this animal, which is also the symbol of this rural community.
Festive traditions
In addition to' classic' events organised by the municipality, such as carnival and heritage days, Trois-Ponts also initiates various annual festivities. First of all, a gourmet rally during the first weekend of June with visits to beautiful places and culinary discoveries: participants can taste a gourmet menu in one of the local restaurants of their choice.
The inhabitants of Trois-Ponts also take part in the celebration of St. Jacobus according to medieval tradition. The programme includes a flea market, the discovery of old crafts and populace ball. Finally, with Saint Hubertus (on November 3rd) the animals are blessed.
If you feel like it, you can also, for example, take a look at culture in the Museum of Wanne (' la maison vivante du temps qui passe'), where you get a clear picture of life in the past and now in the countryside. Also the church of Mary's Memorial in Basse-Bodeux - from the 18th century - is definitely worth a detour.

On The Trail Of The Noufy Stone
Between Les Villettes and Trou de Bra, in the dark and impenetrable wooded heights, a large stone veined with quartz rises up, the Noufy (or Noufi) stone. It is located at 471 metres in altitude, right in the middle of nowhere. Little known, it is one of the country’s most secluded rocks. According to legend, a ring of gold is buried in the stone and is constantly growing. Moreover, it is reputed to guarantee fertility to women who touch it. It is said that in olden days, witches held their covens there. But getting there safe and sound is a very different story... As it’s not visible from the path, to find it you need to step into a spruce wood where trees have been cleared to allow you to pass.

Eglise Saint-Monon
The church is a Neo-Gothic construction with a unique nave and choir with three sections; it is dedicated to Saint Monon whose statue of polychrome wood from the 18th century is found in the interior, accompanied by that of Saint Druon.
The church was recently repainted in pale yellow, and since it is regularly supplied with flowers, this gives it a beneficial look of cleanliness and welcome.
