Itinerary description

There are many "official" distances for the Arkansas River Trail ranging from 14 miles to 17 miles, none of which include the new spur out to Two Rivers and beyond. This track follows the paved cycling trail from the Clinton Library parking area at the Rivermarket up the south side of the river across the Big Dam Bridge back along the north side of the river and across the new Clinton Presidential Park Bridge. There are a few places where you can cut a little time and distance by sticking with the road and/or bike line along side the road but I prefer to avoid vehicular traffic as much as possible. The worst stretch (traffic-wise) is the section begining with the turn onto Arch Street and ending when you turn off Cantrell onto the North Street connector as there are no bike lanes for this section of heavily traveled city streets. The other places where you have to join the road are very lightly traveled and/or have good bike-lanes.
